September 30th is The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

The VNFC plays a pivotal role in supporting the well-being of urban Indigenous communities in Victoria. Given that 80% of Indigenous Canadians reside in urban areas, Friendship Centres like VNFC are more vital now than ever. In the Capital Regional District of Victoria alone, out of 22,500 Indigenous residents, only 5,500 live on reserves. Moreover, the VNFC is in close proximity to 10 Indigenous Nations, all of which benefit from its 53 years of experience as a non-profit organization.
